    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently, it is not possible to place dynamic variables on Confluence pages. With the implementation of this feature, users would be able to create pages that would provide a custom experience to readers.

For example, being able to use a variable for $current_user on a page, to display the name of the user who is viewing the page.

My team members and I are looking for a way to define product names as variables and then use those variables in the pages authored for our online documentation.  Its distinctly possible that our marketing team will change the name of something before launch or even a year after launch.  Having variables defined either for an individual space or across an entire CC instance would be help us avoid any rework necessary.  I'm sure we'd find other uses for it too.

I'm able to add variables to a template:

            1. Space Settings > Content Tools > User Created Templates. Edit > Test Case > add variable to table.
            2. Edit template variable > Save
            3. Click Save (on template) > Click Edit to review
            4. Create new Child Page > Add Template (Test Case). The variables are there as expected
            5. Click Create (child page) and the variables disappear. The variables macro is not available when creating child pages
