Searching in editor breaks the input when mutli-byte characters are typed

Issue Summary

Searching in editor doesn't work for mutli-byte characters

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open the new editor
2. Open the search window
3. Activate Japanese IME and type "ka"

Expected Results

The search field shows "か", the corresponding character for the input

Actual Results

The search fields confirms the first character automatically and shows "kあ" , which is not related and not usable as a text to search for

Workaround

Copy the text you want to search from another app and paste it
