Issue Summary

When using the backticks (`) to make a sentence monospaced, the backticks are cutting the first character of the sentence and both backticks are kept in there. 

Steps to Reproduce

1. Insert a ` 
2. Insert any text after it
3. Insert another ` and press space

Expected Results

The text should turn to monospaced. 

Actual Results

The backticks are kept and the first letter is cut off as you can see in the video below:

Workaround

In general, this bug only happens when you are using the "U.S. - International - PC" keyboard configuration. Changing it to "U.S." in your keyboard preferences should fix it.
