Problem
With the deprecation of the gallery macro, using the new Confluence editor makes it difficult to display several images in one line without relying on complex workarounds.
The available options, such as using tables or columns, introduce issues like unwanted grey borders or fixed widths. Additionally, the current page layout functionality in Confluence Cloud doesn't offer the same flexibility as Confluence DC, making it challenging to achieve the desired image arrangement and complicating debugging efforts.
Suggested Solution
Implement a new macro or ability to control where the image can be inserted into the page
Why This Is Important
The ability to display multiple images in a single line is crucial for maintaining the visual presentation and layout flexibility that was possible with the old editor. This functionality is important for users who rely on clean and organized image displays for documentation, presentations, and content creation within Confluence.
Workaround
A few limited workarounds are available:
- Use the layout function to add images, which is currently limited to 3 images but will be increased to 5 with the new navigation rollout.
- Depending on the visual requirements and image sizes, the new Cards macro may be used.
- The Carousel macro can be used for a rotating image display, though it is limited to 3 images.
- Images can be added inside a table, though you can't edit the border color.
- Third-party macros with gallery or image slider functions can provide the needed capability.
