Issue Summary
In a template, when Instructional (aka Placeholder) Text is placed inside of an Excerpt Macro, it will be displayed as part of the (simple) excerpt when the page is called in the Children Display macro.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a blank page in Confluence using either the legacy or new editor. Save it.
- Create a new template. Add an Excerpt Macro. Inside the macro, include some unique Placeholder Text (new editor) or Instructional Text (legacy editor). It does not matter which editor you use.
- Create a page using from that template, and make sure that it's a child of the first page you created. Save.
- Go back to the first parent page, and add a Children Display macro. Set Excerpt Display setting to simple.
Expected Results
Any instructional text on the page should not be displayed as part of the excerpt in Children Display macro.
Actual Results
Any instructional text placed within the Excerpt Macro will display as a page excerpt in Children Display Macro.
Notes:
- So far, this only occurs when the instructional text is placed inside the Excerpt macro.
- Rich Content excerpt on Children Display macro is not affected.
Workaround
(Three options)
- Do not include Placeholder Text in Excerpt Macro.
- Do not display excerpt in Children Display macro.
- If excerpt display is required in Children Display macro, choose rich content instead.
Further behavior noticed :
regardless of selecting any excerpt display selection: none, simple or Rich Content , the placeholder text will be shown in the search result.
