Summary
When creating a global or space template in Confluence, there is no ability to save the template as a draft.
In addition, templates can't rely on Synchrony to automatically save a draft, so if someone navigates away from a draft they were working on, it will be lost forever.
Drafts that are saved are then public and ready to use, but there's no way to mark it as a draft if it's not ready to be used.
Suggestion
- Automatically create a draft when editing or creating a template.
- Provide ability to "Save as draft..." or to mark an existing template as a draft
- Provide some sort of notification if a user is about to navigate away from a drafted template and has not saved it yet.
Template drafts can be lost easily, for example, If someone uses Preview to review their template and clicks the back button in their browser instead of clicking Edit again. There's no warning at all and work will be lost.
