    Description

      Please provide inline code blocks in Jira confluence as statet at CONFCLOUD-57638:

      Dear Atlassian support,

      I am an IT apprentice at Hapag-Lloyd since 3 months, an organisation currently starting to use your Confluence software products a lot for code documentation purposes with > 300 IT employees and using your Jira application for agile sprint planning.

      Since the beginning of my computer science courses, I learned writing in markdown standards, as many colleagues of mine, so I quickly document code blocks in our mail software, notebooks, Stackoverflow and GitLab like this:

      This is how I document an `inline code block`.

      ```java
      This is how I document a code block with Java-specific syntax highlighting.
      ```

      The feature to enter inline code blocks sourrounded by single back ticks would come in really handy for me if it was implemented into your software product too as it is still not implemented.

      I guess many people worldwide using your products would be profiting from this little change and increase general productivity.

      Please provide a solution for both Jira and Confluence.

      I'd really like to promote the implementation of this feature.

      Thank you very much!

      Kind regards from Hamburg,

      Fabian Rudolf
