Description
Problem Definition
By default, spaces in Confluence are created with the following options:
- Overview
- Blog
It's possible to toggle them on or off on a space-by-space basis, but you can't change the name of the link (e.g. Blog to News or Overview to Home), and it's also not possible to toggle a global space default (i.e. to disable Blog link for all new spaces in the future, the way we can set a default set of global Space Permissions)
Suggested Solution
It would be very useful if there is an option to change or customize the default space sidebar menus.
Example:
- Ability to modify the text of the links
- Ability to set a global default for space sidebar settings for all new spaces.
- Set a group of default space shortcuts to use.
Workaround
- In order to disable Overview and Space menus on a single space, as a space admin, navigate to Space Settings > Sidebar Configuration. Under Choose what appears in your sidebar, toggle the menu options you want to hide:
- Note there is no workaround to modify the text of the menu options, but you can change where the Overview page links by setting a new page as the Overview.
- Click on the space name in the navigation, and click Space Settings to open the Overview tab.
- Choose Edit Space Details.
- Enter the page you want use in the Home page field then choose Save.
