Page Properties Report Macro - Ability to define column widths

    • 7
    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      Problem Definition

The current Page Properties Report Macro doesn't allow the user to define the macro's column's width.

      Suggested Solution

I suggest the macro should give an option that allows the user to perform such action if needed/wanted.

      Why is this Important

This feature would allow the customer to perform its own customizations and adapt the macro to its need, and using more the product to achieve what is expected from it.

8fdc4b1753b7 The functionality asked for in this ticket does not currently exist.  It is about defining column widths not about adding / removing columns.  The widths are auto determined and sometimes make no sense; we are looking for the ability to set column widths.

10d7599baca9 That feature already exists if I understand your request correctly. Within the Page Properties Report settings, click "More Options" and locate the "Columns to Show" field. Simply input the names of all the columns you wish to show in the order you want them to appear on the report, omitting any columns you don't want to include. This works for all columns except the Title column, which can be renamed but not excluded from the report.

I'm very confident this entire site is "not" monitored.

However, the "comment" feature seems to work very well in the past five years.

It's just that the comments are ignored. Utterly.

would also be super nice to be able to exclude some columns altogether. For example, we have a description column that is super verbose and i don't need to pull it at all into the report. people can click the link to the page if they'd like to see more. thanks 8fdc4b1753b7 for pointing out this does exist.

i am still very supportive of the original request of resizing columns. It is needed to be sure the information is displayed in an effective way. right now the system makes really odd choices in which columns get the most real estate.

Very much needed. We use page properties reports heavily to collect information on compliance requirements and readability is of utmost importance. Currently, often one column with a short text takes half of the width while another with a lot of text gets the other half wasting screen space.

Another issue is that if there are several reports on one page collecting similar information, they will have different layouts and the layouts cannot be aligned.

All of this irritates our users considerably.

They're rolling out a totally new look to the Page Properties Report (which is hard to evaluate because right now it's broken and they had to withdraw it). But they didn't address this issue.

            I have these four points:

            A) Gathering interest means “non-dev people” read a comment.
            B) I was told that confluence dev doesn't actually read these comments. At all.
            C) For my reports, I port the data completely OUT of confluence, scrub it through whatever needful microsoft office product, sadly, and then present my report completely OUTSIDE of confluence. Very kludgey.
            D) After four and one-half years, the ticket is not even “assigned”. Sigh.

Want to upvote this feature request.  Column width formatting on page properties reports would be very beneficial to keep pages organized and neat, especially when multiple page properties reports exist on the same document.

This is sorely needed. Having text wrap when it shouldn't can create difficulty in readin the report properly.

For our project dashboard, we currently utilize the excerpt macro, wrap the project headers, and use excerpt include just so the results are all uniform across all projects. Because the excerpt way is very manual, I looked to use the page properties report.

When we try to use the page properties report, because the content is responsive, the dashboard results looks messy. Please allow more customizations in the page properties report so we can make all results look uniform (all columns align).

Would love to see this one fixed!  Not only are the column widths random, but they also change size sometimes.  Very frustrating.

New status is needed "Gathering Dust" - this seems to be going nowhere and yet as it stands it seriously compromises the usability of a potentially very useful feature.

How many votes are needed to get something reviewed/ fixed? 297 already seem like a lot, considering that each of us represent multiple people in our teams/organization.

Our problem is, that inserted table is wider than the surrounding page properties block.

After changing some CSS values through Chrome Dev Tools it seems to be an easy fix:

            .pm-table-sticky-wrapper>table{border-collapse:collapse;border:1px solid var(--ds-border, #C1C7D0);table-layout:fixed;font-size:1em;width:100%}

            Replace against:

            .pm-table-sticky-wrapper>table{border-collapse:collapse;border:1px solid var(--ds-border, #C1C7D0);font-size:1em;width:100%}

So removing the "table-layout:fixed" property solves the issue.

You can test it on your own (Google Chrome):

            • right click on a table which is surrounded by a page property block
            • inspect element
            • Now look above of your selection for the "<table data-number-colum" element
            • Click on it
            • On the right side, uncheck all entries "table-layout:fixed" (at the time of writing this post, there were three of them)

Maybe some users can test this and verify that it solves (of course only temporarily until reloading the page) your issue, so Atlassian can change this.

+1 This is really annoying and makes for a very poor viewing experience. Page Properties tables should do a better job of automatically sizing to the panels they're contained in. Additionally, we should have the ability to manually size the columns. I'm finding that if you try to mess with them at all, publish, edit, and publish again, the tables somehow get wider, requiring more horizontal scrolling each time.
