Excerpt Include Macro Fails in Fabric, if the included excerpt is from TinyMCE and is in a section/table/macro

      Summary

With the introduction of the new editor for pages, when the user tries to retrieve an Excerpt with the Excerpt Include macro from a page Created with the older editor (TinyMCE) that includes different sections, or where the Excerpt is wrapped in a table or macro, the inclusion will fail with an error.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a page using the old editor and make sure to use the older model of sections, like the two even columns:  Alternatively, you can create a table or a macro in which you will include the Excerpt.
      2. Add the Excerpt macro to this page and have some content inside the same
      3. Publish this page
      4. Now, use a page that already has the new editor (e.g. Meeting Notes and Blog posts)
      5. Add the Excerpt Include macro and point it to the page created in the first step
      6. Save the configuration and publish the page

      Expected Results

The "Excerpt Include" macro should properly retrieve the content from the page.

      Actual Results

The following message is displayed when using the macro:

Error loading excerpt from "Space Key:Test Page".

      Notes

      • The older section model does not need to be inside the excerpt to have the issue happening.
      • This seems to be happening because the new editor only allows a fixed centralized section for the pages and the same cannot be changed or have new ones included as the older one. Update: While columns have been added to the new Editing Experience, they behave differently than sections.
      • The following messages are displayed in the browser's console:
No excerpt found for SPACEKEY:Page name

      • While previewing the macro, the same displays properly:

      Workaround

In the page that the excerpt will be retrieved, do not use sections, and make sure there is no wrapping around the excerpt.

This iD is 4+ years Old, and still with gathering impact status. Hence, I honestly doubt this is actively worked on.

Can @Atlassian provide a statement about this feature?

Looking for an update on this as well.

My company has Confluence Cloud Premium and we have the same problem with this macro. We are using the macros in plain pages–not tables, sections, etc. This bug was submitted in 2018 and still no fix? How can this be unassigned?

It affects our cloud environment as well. Both pages in the new editor and excerpt show the error message simply because the page contains page sections.

How can this be a problem for so long? How is this still "gathering impact"??

This and many other bugs are what keep our company from upgrading confluence to Premium.

This issue still affects our cloud confluence today. I am able to reproduce it even when both pages are using the new editor.

            Hello,

we use the macros a lot of times, so we aktually can not work with our Wiki as well.

We need a very fast solution, because the problem has been around for months now.

Or can we go back to the old editor? Then you can solve the problem and we can work right now. At this time we can only work with the old editor when we are working on old sites, but the sites we have created with the old editor and save once with the new editor, then we can only use the new editor where our macros do not work.

And on new created sites, we can not use our inclusions (macros) too, because on new created sites we have to use the new editor.

I would say this is related to CONFCLOUD-65582. The Excerpt Include macro appears to be completely broken in the Fabric Editor.
