Summary
Jira Report Login & Approve button is not working
Description
When creating a non-default/system application link to/from a Confluence or Jira that is not under the same URL, the Jira Report page template shows a message like the one below:
You are viewing this selected server as anonymous. You may want to Login & Approve.
Clicking the Login & Approve does nothing. This way, the user is not able to create a template using the Simple option.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create an Application Link between a Confluence Cloud site and a Jira Cloud site with different URLs. Example: foo1.atlassian.net and foo2.atlassian.net/wiki
Note this will also happen when linking Jira and Confluence between a production and sandbox site. - Once the links are configured, go to the Confluence site and Create a New page, selecting the Jira Report as a template.
- Select one of the report types, then click Next.
- You'll see the following message: "You are viewing this selected server as anonymous. You may want to Login & Approve."
- Click the Login & Approve
Expected Results
You are redirected to Authenticate to Jira.
Actual Results
You are not redirected and you can't create a Jira Report because the Project field is required - and you can't pick one because it doesn't display anything.
Workaround
- Go to +
- Select Jira Report
- Pick one of the templates, the "You are viewing this selected server as anonymous. You may want to Login & Approve." will be displayed.
- Ignore it and pick the Switch to Advanced
- Insert a valid JQL (e.g.: project != empty
- Click Create
- The editor will show up. Publish the page.
- The Jira macros will display an Authenticate option. Click it.
- This will redirect the user to make the authentication in the Jira instance - even though he/she is already logged in.
- After that, any further attempts by this user will be valid and the Jira Report template will work as expected.
If the above does not work, you can try the same via a Jira Issues or Jira Legacy macro.
- In a Confluence page, insert the macro.
- This will present the flow to authenticate. Tap the Login & Approve button. There, follow the flow and tap Allow
- Once the content is displayed, close the draft (or the tab).
- Now when you try to create a Jira Report, it should automatically sign you into Jira.
