! insert image macro creates inconvenient situations when the macro is not needed

In edit mode, the ! opens up the media suggestions window, and needs to be escaped before the user ca continue normal text editing. Though the functionality is nice, like we already have this in place with the [ and { characters, the ! is a much more frequent used character in normal text than both the [ and {

There is no option to disable this functionality without also disabling the [. Could you please either replace the ! with a much less widely used character for opening up this window, make it possible to disable [ and ! separately from each other, or require white space to be present in front of the ! before opening up the media suggestions window.
