Resolution: Won't Do
Description
NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Cloud. Using Confluence Server? See the corresponding suggestion.
As a space administrator, I want to be able to limit WHO (user or group) can use a specific template so that I can restrict certain content types to specific users or groups.
Use case:
We use Confluence for our corporate intranet. In general, we want the intranet to be open and editable by all in order to increase collaboration and knowledge sharing (space editing permission for all). However, on the landing page, we pull in news and newsletters (content by label macro), which we target to different groups (show if macro).
I have created templates for news (corporate-wide, EMEA news, Denmark news, etc), which ensure the right labels are on each news item so that it is presented to the right audience.
So far, so good.
However I really want to limit who can use those templates. Only specific people can create company-wide news, only people in Denmark can create DK news, etc. Right now I hide Create from Template buttons in the show if macro, but anyone who clicks Create can see all the templates and create whatever they want.
My HR overlords would be so pleased if we could actually restrict access to the templates
