NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Cloud. Using Confluence Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

In JIRA, there is an option to update the SMTP timeout through the UI. We would like to see this option in Confluence as well.

After logging in as and Administrator, under the 'Mail Servers' menu, select the option to 'Edit Mail Servers.' There should be an option to set the number of milliseconds for timeout in this list.

There is a workaround, which involves updating the BANDANA Table, and can be found here: SMTP Timeout

This issue relates to the following:
      https://support.atlassian.com/browse/CSP-130319
      https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-29033

Please note - When the mail settings are updated in any way, the workaround has to be re-executed. Any changes causes the settings to revert to the default.
