      NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Cloud. Using Confluence Server? See the corresponding suggestion.

      When you insert a link or turn text into a link, Confluence should give a option to select the target where the link will be opened (new tab or new window) without customization codes.

      In example, on Atlassian Answers when you insert a text and "transform" it on a link, you have the option to select the target where it will be opened.
