share_button without email

Is there currently a way to enable the share page button even though an outgoing mail server is not configured. It would be nice to have the ability to share a page and have it appear in their workbox all internal to confluence without the need for email.

I know that page mentions are possible but that seems counter productive if I come across a blog post from coworker A that solves a problem that was being discussed with coworker B. To edit or comment the page just so that coworker B sees it will also send a notification to coworker A.
