      Description

      From editor feedback page:

How amazing would it be to simply click-and-hold on a row, move the mouse to another part of the table, and the row moves automagically? This would be an amazing trade-up for the wiki markup - I have to cut, hit up or down arrows a bunch, and paste from a keyboard, but I would just have to move my mouse if using this.

I'm working with tables that require me to order rows by priority. Having to delete, copy, add a row and finally paste the row (that I just copied) is a big hassle. I expect this table to grow in size as my whole organization wants to reference this table as a source of truth for upcoming product features.

It would be super dope to have an easier way to rearrange rows/columns. I would also keep me from switch to a service a like Notion. I think Atlassian provides a the best 360 suite for product teams and would hate to add another tool.

I use tables a lot instead of checklists, as I find them more versatile. But the lack of simple drag-drop of rows/columns is really annoying! Would love to see a fix/function for this.

Really keen to have this added as I am finding myself using Confluence less and less and Miro more and more due to the lacking features on Confluence. Would be great to have all things in one place but the feature set needs to be there.

Yup. It's been 6 years since my first comment on this thread. I've registered for their research session, let's see if I 1) I get called, and 2) anything comes out of this. I've been part of a zoom call with them already years ago, but nothing come out of it. Let's hope this time they can get something out for customers, which let's be honest, many of us won't get to see until it gets picked up by our company's enterprise version, anyways.

I am working with tables and texts to sort it according to importance. One suggestion for the Confluence on web would be to introduce a keyboard shortcuts to move lines up/down inside ordered / unordered lists / tables. This feature was brought to light by Dropbox Paper and was indeed very usable.

Amazing that Jira Backlogs allow drag and drop and confluence cant do it. I'm in SharePoint now for most stuff anyway.

Let's arrange a birthday party for the ticket we have just over 3 months to sort a venue.

Remembering 2012 almost 11 years ago:

The number one song in US was Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen in the USA or Payphone by Maroon5 in the UK.

Moneyball, directed by Bennett Miller, was one of the most viewed movie released in 2012 while The Great Destroyer by David Limbaugh was one of the best selling books.

On TV people were watching True Love. If you liked videogames you were probably playing Closure or Blades of Time.

The US president was Barack Obama (Democrat), the UK Prime Minister was David Cameron (Conservative), Pope Benedict XVI was leading the Catholic Church.

I've given up on having this feature implemented before I retire. It's clear that there's no benefit in them implementing it, and actually shipping it to customers. The improvement we're asking for won't improve their quarterly goals, and it won't increase the value of the share, so why would they bother.

Maybe some day, some hackathon project will make it all the way though its bureaucratic process and make it to customers. Until that they comes, we can still vent about the frustrating situation in here, with all you lovely folks.

1). This is a core feature.  If you're not going to implement this, don't pretend you listen to the customer.  Just shut down this Suggestion facade.  Pretending to listen to the customer and do nothing just ticks us off and makes us look around for another product.

2). Could you please post and explain WHY this feature isn't implemented?  I could perform this function in any spreadsheet 30 years ago.  So far it's been crickets.

It's always annoying to lose so much common functionality by moving the market leader in Enterprise wikis and experience and ever-growing ignorance of the vendor to customer requests. In honesty, our whole team is looking back to the ease of work with other tools used before the company decision tom use Confluence. And this one is just one of 100 Examples.

People want to sort rows in a table by dragging and dropping rows up and down the table

Jeff Sykes added a comment -

This is easily my biggest need with Confluence.  Creating a project planning page with a table that has dozens of rows, and not being able to do a full re-sort when needed, was so clunky that we switched to using a shared Excel spreadsheet.

^^ Please reprioritize this feature!! Its extremely time consuming to copy and paste the ordering where we need it to be.

Hi, we need this basic feature please.

How is it possible that this STILL hasn't been implemented? It's actually kind of amazing at this point.

This functionality would be very useful, especially all the while one cannot sort the rows on a the values in a particular column. It's a functionality found in other web-based services like Miro.

            Use Case:
We make our PRDs in Confluence for all roadmap-items. We break down large JTBD into manageable peaces in requirement tables where we can link to Jira epics etc.
These are scored and sorted in a table, and when we want to switch place on a row, move something up and down etc as research is done.

Feedback on copy/paste rows up and down:
The expected behaviour is to just grab de row and drag it up or down. Copy pasting rows to change order wasn't even considered as a solution and I didn't even know about that functionality until I joined this forum. ( I actually joined this forum only for the purpose of letting you know that you lack the drag & drop rows in tables )

Your roadmap seem to not have much frontend features
Seems drag & drop rows isn't on your roadmap yet. Not much frontend seem to be. Maybe you can put it in the roadmap soon? I really miss it.

            Use Case:
For a project i'm starting, I'm not to the point of needing Jira tickets yet.  Right now I just want to use Confluence for the planning stage, and create a list/table of items/tasks.   And as I work on the ongoing prioritization, I want the ability to easily drag-drop items to change their position in the list.  Using Cut/Paste to insert is a bit clunky, because we're all spoiled in 2022, and this feels a bit outdated.  I just want to drag-drop to re-order the items, similar to moving tickets in a Jira backlog.

FFS, I think I requested this like over 15 years ago and it still hasn't happened! In regard to the use case, it's painfully obvious: to be able to re-order rows in table. Data in a tabular format needs to be re-ordered or moved around, this is a concept in almost every data table I've ever seen. Whether this is drag & drop, or simply from an overflow menu (e.g., Move Row Up, Move Row Down). This isn't rocket science, just let us move rows up and down without having to do clunky BS like copying & pasting while praying it doesn't mess the rest of the table up.

I don't understand how this feature is missing -very basic function of a table. And TWO YEARS LATER still PENDING. I like the merge function but the ROW MOVE missing, what's going on? Confluence won't replace my Notion, very easy to use...

Add another vote for this seemingly simple feature. Also, would column sort be so hard to add too??

I never see when they are going to do it.  Atlassian does NOT listen to their customers.  I keep seeing enhancements come through that no one is asking for and provides little benefit to Me.  This basic enhancement would be a large benefit.  I don't understand why simple enhancements can't be incorporated into the product.  @Sam Ugulava - as Product Manager do you have anything to say?  When will this be on the supposed roadmap?  I have never seen anything I've requested over the last 5 years implemented.  Why do you bother having these "Suggestions" if they just go into the black hole?
