      Customers experience sever problems after upgrading their instance due to 3rd party plugin incompatibilities. The upgrade procedure leaves the 3rd plugins in place.

      Possible Solution
      When starting confluence a command line option can boot confluence and skip loading plugins that have been installed via the plugin repository. Plugins that have been dropped in WEB-INF/lib will not be effective as they remain in the old instance.
