Ability to sort search results

      Hi everyone,

      This is Charlie from the Confluence team. Thank you for your interest in this suggestion.

      After reviewing this ticket and weighing it up against our other opportunities, we have decided to transition it to 'Gathering interest' as we don't have plans to work on this in the near term.

      Please continue to vote and watch this suggestion if having the ability to sort search results is important to your team, as we regularly review highly ranked tickets as potential roadmap items.

      Ability to sort search results by date and also alphabetically

            It's 2025, any updates on when we will be able to properly sort search results?
            It is very perplexing why this function is not available and why it is taking so long to implement.

            It is possible to display the search results in tabular format and sort the results by clicking on the column headers with the Canned Search for Confluence Data Center.

            This issue already mentioned in 2017. Does not seem to be a difficult thing to do...

            The survey link does not work...

            Not being able to have results sorted by date after all these years is a serious handicap for Confluence.

            I'm searching for some documentation about a new feature developed back in 2017. I'd like to get the very first document about this feature so I'd love to have the ability to sort by date created / last modified...whatever.

            Looking forward to this enhancement.

            I want to say that I really like the improvements made recently to the search functionality for Confluence but I would still like to see the ability to sort by date.

            At the moment, it isn't clear what sort order (if any) Confluence is using on the results.

            I've tried using the Advanced Search capability but, despite Advanced Search saying I can use CQL and https://developer.atlassian.com/server/confluence/advanced-searching-using-cql/ says that I can use "order by", I always get:

            Oops, something went wrong with your search.

            We could not successfully complete the search. Could not parse cql : space = ITS order by created and type in ("space","user","page","blogpost","attachment","com.atlassian.confluence.plugins.confluence-questions:question","com.atlassian.confluence.extra.team-calendars:calendar-content-type","com.atlassian.confluence.plugins.confluence-questions:answer","com.atlassian.confluence.extra.team-calendars:space-calendars-view-content-type")

            So, yes, we do still need the ability to sort search results by date, please.

             I wish Atlassian would include a status of "Fat Chance" into their workflow.  It would be more honest than an obvious feature sitting here for over 12 years and receiving a response of "but we’re still open to this improvement in the future".  Oh, thank you Atlassian....thank you so much that you're "open" to this.
