    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

It would be great if Confluence supported a better revision control model on attachments. Ideally, some sort of check-out/check-in so you know someone has something. This should be an optional feature, maybe attachment by attachment? When you add the attachment you could specify a revision control model?

An update on Arsenale Lockpoint as a solution for this...

In case you didn't catch the forum post in the spring, Arsenale Lockpoint is now completely free for Confluence installations with 10, 25 and 50-user licenses. No strings attached; all features included. Hopefully that might make it a no-brainer install for some of the folks here who have been waiting for a good, no-cost solution.

Grab it right from Plugin Exchange – https://plugins.atlassian.com/36199 – or from the Universal Plugin Manager in Confluence.

Here's a new solution to that was released today:

Arsenale Lockpoint is a Confluence plugin that gives your company controlled versioning of Confluence attachments, allowing locking of individual files for exclusive editing

We bumped into a data corruption issue with the unsupported Attachment Checkout plugin; see details at https://studio.plugins.atlassian.com/browse/CHKOUT-47. I was asked by support to vote on this issue so we can get this as a supported feature. I just noticed that this ticket was written in 28/Oct/05 so this is a joke to me. I expect better from Atlassian. It is crazy to ask customers to vote for issues that has been around since 2005; when will we reach sufficient votes to get this implemented? Maybe my 1 vote will tip it?

Voted and watching this improvement, having (literally today) just managed to convince upper management that Confluence is a "Good Thing™", we're going to lose our attachment checkout plugin come the upgrade to 3.1 which was one of the major functionalities that we need.

            I think I might cry

Most recent version of "Attachment checkout plug-in" is marked as UNSUPPORTED.We are planning to install this plug-in in our production environment. It seems to be risky, if some functionality won't functions properly later after the installation.

Our Confluence install has grown to a point where document management (check in/check out) is an increasing need from our users. Without this feature we will be moving towards MS sharepoint.

Please, lets see this one done!
Corporate Document Management using Confluence with the Check In/Out plugin is the most important capability the wiki provides my company.
We've now upgraded to 3.1 and that plugin no longer works. It's causing major problems.
I'm in full support of Atlassian adding this capability to the baseline product. It's such a great feature.

Having said that, Confluence v2.9 appears to have broken the Checkout Plugin again..

            Paul and others,

The Attachment Checkout Plugin has now been updated to support Confluence v2.7 and above (http://confluence.atlassian.com/x/j4LQAw ). This plugin provides the functionality requested in this issue.

Perhaps this issue should now be closed?
