Table of Contents macro no longer works after upgrade to 5.9.11

I recently upgraded our confluence on-premise instance 5.6.4 to 5.9.11. I noticed now that the anchor links in the Table of Contents macro no longer work for existing or new pages. This was thought to be resolved by switching from the "Documentation" theme to the "Default" theme but I have been able to reproduce this issue (https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-39960) while already being in the "Default" theme.

The work around is to use Table of Contents zone
If you "Open in new tab/window" the link will properly work however it does not render properly within the same window/tab.

            Hello,

At this time I am closing this bug as a Cannot Reproduce. So far the solution has either been

            • he Documentation Theme was being used, and this is a know issue logged here: --CONF-39960--
            • The Social Space Add-On causing the issue

Please check if you have either of those conditions.

If this issue still persists, please

            1. Use Safe Mode by following the steps in Disabling and enabling add-ons, and turn each one back on one at a time to see if an Add-On is causing this.
            2. Remove any custom HTML or CSS in both the Global Header and Space Header

If this is still an issue, then please open a new Support Ticket at https://support.atlassian.com, attach a full support zip file.

Due to the fact, that we are still facing this issue on our 5.9.5 Installation, we would appreciate, if you could forward the required changes in more detail, so we can check on our site. Thanks in advance.

Feedback on this. Atlassian was able to guide us, via a support ticket and follow-up call, through making the change to the default theme (we had a well-hidden macro preventing the sidebar config working in the default theme). Much appreciated.
Oddly, we still have a separate server instance with the Doc theme on which the TOC works perfectly.

Thank you James, I will do that.

Would it be possible for someone from Atlassian to comment please (refer my comment above). I apologise for sounding impatient, but this is affecting our customer-facing product documentation. It is not a good look, when customers have always been so complimentary about the ease of use of our doco, for this very basic feature to suddenly break. Not only break, but break on some but not all pages. Please assist, or acknowledge in some way. Thanks.
Here is an example of behaviour:

            • Page 'A' TOC links not working.
            • I made a copy of page 'A' and moved the copy into my admin test space.
            • Copy of page 'A' TOC links work perfectly.
            • Other than page name, and space, there are no differences between the pages.

I would appreciate input from Atlassian on this issue. Some TOC macro links work and some don't. Are you able to state how the bug effects expected behaviour? Many thanks.

We have experienced this issue in 5.9.10. We still are using Documentation theme in the affected spaces.
However, we have a separate space also using Documentation theme on a separate server and this problem is not occuring on this instance.
Btw, the suggested workaround is not a practical one because we have hundreds of pages using the TOC macro and it is not feasible to replace these.

Just to confirm, I am NOT able to reproduce this problem on Confluence 5.10.4 using the default look and feel theme and only the TOC macro on the page.
