We have reviewed this further and this is what our findings on this bug :
UPDATE:
- The documentation provided has been reviewed and the sentence using Tab key within Confluence is no longer stated there
- We have tested this out and here are our findings :
In the old editor.
- We can confirm that the Tab key does not work and that is expected since we have the indent button at the toolbar to indent text out. This is set by designed for the old editor
In the new editor
This is also been rectified for new editor where the tab key does work
- This information can be found in our editor roadmap : Confluence Cloud Editor Roadmap > text with indents
Summary
The Confluence documentation states that pressing the Tab key within the Confluence Editor will indent the text (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Keyboard+Shortcuts).
However, this is not the case - it simply navigates the cursor from within the text editing downward to the Save/Create button.
Steps to Reproduce
- Go to a page and edit or create new page
- Add title and text
- Hit the "Tab" key when putting the cursor on the text
Expected Results
It will indent the text
Actual Results
Does not indent the text
Workaround
In old editor
Click on the indent button when clicking on the text
In new editor
New editor supports tab key for keyboards.
