The current breadcrumb syntax is not particularly useful:

      Dashboard > SpaceName > ... > PageAbove > Current page > View

As soon as you get more than a level deep, the breadcrumbs become much less useful. A user is limited to going to it's parent page, or to the space page (both of which was in the old UI anyway). There are 2 parts of the breadcrumb which have limited functionality- the ellipsis and the "view":

      • The ellipsis is useless, as it only references the current page and is no assistance other than visual. Clicking on it does nothing- even though it is an href.
      • View is redundant, because of the tabs directly below it that inform the user if they are in View or Edit mode.

      My suggestion:
      1. remove view altogether, and use the space for one more level
      2. keeping the idea of the ellipsis to save space, use them to represent the levels above - so if I'm six levels deep:
      Dashboard > SpaceName > ... > ... > ... > PageAbove > Current page
The user can still navigate up, but doesn't necessarily see all the page names- maybe limit this to 3-4 ellipsis
      3. crop long page names in breadcrumb text to save more space

            [CONFSERVER-3247] extend breadcrumbs, remove ellipsis
