      From Editor Feedback Page:

For macros such as code etc that contain text, there appears to be no way to delete a macro and leave the body. This is a real issue when you are editing with sections and columns and you are making major format and organizational changes. Cutting and pasting the body is a slow and clumsy solution.

[CONFSERVER-24205] Delete Macro but retain it's Contents

This problem is not limited to Section+column macros. The expand macro is another example.

We're doing some exploratory work at the moment on how we can extend Page Layouts to make them useful for replacing more use cases where section+column macros are used today.

Section+column macros are the example we always hear from people who ask for this issue to be addressed. By replacing the need for them with page layouts, it will make this issue redundant and isn't something we will work on in the mean time, so I'm going to close it now.

Hi Michael, yep just cut/copy the content, delete the macro, then paste the content to it's new location. Alternatively if you're using the source editor you could make the changes there.

Is there a workaround how we can handle this? We have some pages where a nested macro in "the middle" of the hirarchy needs to be deleted. Is the copy and paste way the only one?

John can the compenent WYSIWYG - editing be added to this issue. Right now I think this is just being overlooked.

            Thx.

Crumbs, I just saw the comment below on another page, which led me to this issue.

Example 1: The Note tags were incorrect and highlighting or encompassing all of my content as a Note. I could not remove only the note tag – it you select remove, it removes the content as well. I had to copy and paste portions out of the note, into the page, and continue until all was out and then remove the note. If you select all of the note's content to copy or cut, when you paste, it pastes the notes tags back in – so, you duplicate the note which is the issue that I was trying to resolve.

The more I look into the loss of wiki markup, the more depressed I get.
