    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

As part of Confluence 4.3 we launched Confluence Mobile. A mobile friendly view for searching, browsing, commenting and liking Confluence content on your Mobile as well as a mobile user directory.

It does not currently allow for Editing of pages in the Mobile view. As of iOS5 you can load the editor if you switch to the standard (non mobile) view in Mobile Safari but the experience is not ideal and is not supported.

            Hi all,

We're excited to announce we've now released 1.0 versions of both the Confluence Server iOS and Android apps. These apps allow you to use your mobile device to create and edit pages and are compatible with Confluence Server 6.8.

For information on the apps features, check out Using the Confluence Server mobile app. To understand the configuration required to use the apps, please read our Considerations for admins.

            Thanks!

Using an iPad pro the best solution IMHO would be that editing in desktop mode actually worked. No need for an app if it did.

Confluence has native mobile apps for iOS (iPhone) & Android. On iOS, it supports simple editing. You can edit existing formats on the page. Editing is coming to the Android app. The mobile apps are for cloud instances. For more info about our mobile apps go here: https://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/mobile-app

Psst! Are we going to get a native iOS app that connects to Confluence Server any time soon?

The world moved to mobile. Atlassian did not follow. Not being able to edit Confluence on the go makes it far less useful. Pity wiki markup was ditched as that could have saved Confluence here.

Here's my wish list for this—recently I've been trying to figure out what to use as a personal (that is, single-person) wiki, and Confluence ticks all of the boxes EXCEPT for mobile editing. By which I mean to say, if Confluence had a good mobile editor, I would buy a license just to use for myself—and Atlassian would have the opportunity to engage an entirely new market (personal wikis) if they felt like it.

So that said, rich text mobile editing is really hard to pull off, and I don't know that there exists (to begin with) an implementation that works inside a mobile browser – much less one that's any good. The best implementations that I've seen (on iOS) are native apps, like Stack Exchange, Medium, Day One, and (to a lesser degree) Evernote. Stack Exchange's mobile app is probably the best model for this – a native app, from the App Store, that does all of its interaction with the server via API. This then allows you to implement a proper user experience for editing confluence pages (choosing macros, linking pages, headers and styles, etc) in device-native code and interfaces.

So I think really, the scope of "give us mobile editing", if done right, is a huge undertaking – it would require designing and maintaining at least iOS and Android apps through their respective app stores, and any new app version would need to be backwards-compatible with a range of server API versions so that an automatic App Store update doesn't bork the mobile app for a user whose server isn't tracking the leading edge.

Of course, I also think this would be brilliant and would love to see it happen, so +1 from me!

Can we get an update? Users are not happy with the mobile interface...We need an app!

I've been travelling recently with just an iPad (iOS 7) + bluetooth keyboard and I've been pleasantly surprised by how much I have been able to use the full-text editor in Confluence desktop view, both pages and comments.

The rich-text editor definitely likes working with the keyboard better than just the touch screen. However, one issue that I hadn't considered is that at the moment the browser won't let me attach anything other than images. That's actually become a bigger show stopper for me than the editing.

Note: By no means is any of the above suggesting the issue is resolved, just thought I would share my recent experience. There are still plenty of glitches and issues using the editor that would frustrate the average user.

            Dear Atlassian Team,
            what do you mean by
            >>As of iOS5 you can load the editor [...] but the experience is not ideal [...]?
Acutally editing is not possible at all, even in IO7, neither in desktop view nor in mobile view.
When I click edit and then click on the text field, it just gets "grey" but no cursor appears. Please fix quickly.
            Kind regards,
            Henning
