Allow spaces to use the "Default" theme, even if it is not globally configured as the default theme

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

In the global theme configuration screen, the "Default Theme" means the standard state-of-the-art look and feel that Confluence ships with. I'll refer to that as the "Standard Theme" in this description.
In the space theme configuration screen, the "Default Theme" is correctly described as "the globally configured look and feel." Unfortunately, if the global theme is not configured to the Standard Theme, then a space cannot be configured to use that theme.

      To replicate:

      1) Set the global theme to 'Confluence Classic Theme'
      2) Set the space theme to 'Confluence Classic Theme'. This configuration works.
      3) Switch the space theme to 'Default Theme'. The space appears similar to the Classic Theme.

[CONFSERVER-10208] Allow spaces to use the "Default" theme, even if it is not globally configured as the default theme

There should be a nice easy to way to apply the changed theme for all existing spaces, our customer has 500 spaces, we cannot do this manually. Please instruct an alternative way to do this!

Not sure about the method described above, but there is a commercial solution, see Default Theme plugin on Atlassian Marketplace.

It provides the option of using Confluence's default look and feel on individual spaces while still keeping login panel, search results, profile pages, dashboard, and other globals properly styled. It's a free plugin for Brikit license holders, otherwise it paid.

Is it possible to make an exact copy of the Confluence "Default Theme" and add that to the "theme library"? I would imagine that would allow you to select "Default Theme - copy", even when you choose a different site-default. I think I read somewhere their used to be a copy you could download to use kind of as a base for a custom theme, but the link was no longer in use.

How is this an improvement? It is a pretty decent bug.....

So your greate new Confluence 5.0 "Default Theme" can not be used alongside a site-default "Documentation Theme".
At least glad to hear it has nothing to do with our language setting beeing something other than "English".

            Regards

            Matthias
