Currently there are no ways to delete an answer as a user. If a user mistakenly posts on the wrong question, their only recourse is to modify the answer and say something like "Oops, wrong post!". Deleting all the content while editing results in an error - you can't submit an empty post.

[COMMUNITY-71] Allow users to delete own answers

I'm still seeing some posts where "delete my own" would be good to have. A recent example was someone posting a "Thanks, that worked!" comment to an answer. They accidentally posted it as an answer instead. Then they did post that as a comment to my answer, but were unable to delete their accidental-answer and just edited it to say "<duplicate message>".

daniel.eads working through our backlog, can you report if this is still an issue?

rachel.wright - Thanks for providing the screenshot.  It was very helpful and I was able to narrow the issue to what appears to be the Subscriptions option (which doesn't appear on all postings).  I'll have the team investigate and hope to have a fix soon.

Hi again Monica - I tested and when I clicked the blue "Move Post" button, the only thing that happened was more white space appeared between the button and the post details section.  See the second red box in my attached screenshot.  The page did not refresh nor show any errors.

The test post I added a comment to is here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Mod-Chat-questions/Can-I-post-now/qaq-p/577553#M321  As you can see, my test comment is still there and didn't get moved.

In case it's related, I'm also not able to edit articles I post.  I've filed that issue as: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/COMMUNITY-75

rwright288992832 - You do have the permissions to move posts as a community champion, and the steps you took should have worked ("Removed Posts" does appear as "removed" once selected).  Can you try again and supply a screenshot if it's still not working for you?

daniel.eads - At this time, we're restricting the ability to remove posts to admins, mods and champions.

rwright288992832 - Let me check and see if there may be an issue with permissions.  Meanwhile, I removed the comment posted by "web.com JIRA Admin".

I must be doing this wrong.  When I visit the "move" form, and add "Removed Posts" to the "Destination" field, it supplies a selection of the word "removed."  If I select that and click the blue "Move Post" button at the bottom of the page nothing happens.  In this scenario, the radio button is selected for "Create a new topic, article, idea, or entry."  (This doesn't seem like the correct selection.)

Next, I tried changing the radio button to "Merge with an existing topic, article, idea, or entry."  That changes the "Destination" field to a field labeled "Destination Post ID."  Since the phrase "Removed Posts" isn't an integer, I didn't expect that to work, but I tried it anyway.  Again, clicking the blue "Move Post" button at the bottom of the page doesn't result in any error message or action.

Here's the comment I'm trying to move/delete if anyone else wants to try it. https://community.atlassian.com/t5/JIRA-Service-Desk-questions/Within-Activity-How-do-I-comment-a-participants/qaq-p/617105#M5789  (Comment from "web.com JIRA Admin")

Thanks Monica, that certainly solves Rachel's use case. However, I think we may need to leave the suggestion open for the average user who may find themselves in the same situation and doesn't have Champion powers to solve it for themselves.

info1712, rwright288992832 - Instructions can be found at the following link but I've included it below as well: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Mod-Chat-articles/Moderator-Playbook/ba-p/458273.

            How to Move a Post

Click the ellipses (at the top of posts or discussions and at the bottom of articles) and then Move to move the post. You can type the Destination in the destination field. This will automatically move and retag the post.

You can choose to select the option to notify the post author, and enter a reason. This is optional.

Note:  In this case, type in 'Removed Posts' as the destination field.

Thanks Monica.  I saw one other reference to the phrase "Removed Posts" when I was searching for this feature but couldn't find any additional info about it.  Are there directions on how to do this (move something to this area)?
