Create new group for administering billing info section

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Currently, the 'site-admins' group is used for the user management module. However, there are use cases, where clients would like to allow access to just managing users and groups, or just managing the billing section of the module. In these cases, the ability to have 2 separate groups that control each function would be needed.

Cannot believe this is from 2014. In our case is not a matter of pricing, we just dont want to grant admin access to someone from our Finance department in order to lower the risk of damages to our data.

            Atlassian team,

Please can you take afresh look at this? RBAC is a standard approach to allow appropriate access to the resources different user groups require in order to do their jobs.

Like the comments before this, billing tasks (checking invoices, updating payment details, auditing number of licenses and products etc) is typically the role of someone in the finance team. However granting them site-admin type access is clearly not a sensible solution for most organizations. Conversely, the site-admin's time isn't always best spent trying to gather and interpret specific information for the finance team.

There is a consistent stream of interested clients here... What does it take to get this into your build queue?

            Thanks!

The current design requires assigning unnecessary uber-administration permissions simply to allow a user to update billing information.  In today's risky security climate, this ought to be considered a critical security deficiency, regardless of the number of votes.  Please address this ASAP.

I have been waiting for this feature for some years already and it is the first time I notice that I needed to vote for it.

Another feature that is making a lot of people move to the competitors is the Stakeholders feature (role where they have read access, but do not have write access, so that they can follow up but doesn't use a seat). Where can I vote for it?

This feature would be greatly appreciated. Currently 3 out of our 5 site admin accounts are so solely for this purpose. That means they consume 3 Jira Service Desk agent accounts which we pay for, and will forever remain unused.

Totally agree - it makes absolutely no sense to grant our Financial people permissions to manage users and subscriptions. There must be a way to grant access to billing only, without exposing administrative functions.

Me too. We would like to assign the ability for our accounts department to see all the licenses being used and the projected invoices for the next month/year but without being able to change which licenses are selected or change users or anything like that.

i.e. full visibility for billing contact not just to current invoices.

For reference, below is a copy of the email I received from your billing department:

            Thanks for contacting Atlassian, Peter.

            That is a good question.

Currently, primary billing contacts have access to this information, among others:

            • copy of invoices
            • email notification for payment issues like declined credit cards
            • email reminders 30 days before your subscription expires
              • contains a renewal quote

Some primary billing contacts are site admins as well, and they get to view the Billing Estimate tab inside the cloud instance. But in your case, you prefer not to grant site admin privileges to your accountant. That prevents them from seeing the billing summary and estimated charges.

Like I said, this is a good idea. I'll definitely forward it to one of our product managers. I also encourage you to file it as a feature request. The entry that gets the most votes from the Atlassian community will be considered in future releases.

If you have questions, let me know. Always happy to help!

I'm very surprised this is not available. We are a small company and we really need this.

I am the site administrator, I do not do billing. This means I ether give my billing department full administrator access or I forward information to them, monthly. This is incredibly inconvenient. Please implement this as soon as possible.
