Problem Definition

For products that are billed on the improved Atlassian billing experience, products are added to a "billing account" where multiple subscriptions can be managed from a single billing account.

In some situations, it is preferable that certain subscriptions are added to specific billing accounts, e.g. subscriptions belonging to the "Marketing" team are separate from other departments. At the moment it is not possible for a customer to choose which billing account(presuming they are the admin on multiple billing accounts) the new product/subscription will be added to.

Suggested Solution

The new subscription or site is linked to a new or a specific billing account can be selected by the person who created the new site.

Why this is important

New subscription(s) may be added to billing account that is not suitable for the a customer's specific use case.

Workaround

We advise customers to review the billing account after signing-up for a new Cloud site/product to ensure the subscription is in the desired billing account when the product trial(s) ends.

Our teams are building a self-serve capability for customers to be able to move subscriptions to more preferred account and billing profiles in Q2 FY25(estimate as of 03-Jul-2024). As of 19-Aug-2024, it is now possible for billing admins to move subscriptions between billing accounts.
