Upgrade JUnit library from 3.8 to 4.10. Correct unit tests if necessary.

Make sure that all unit tests run on all platforms, especially regarding:

• line endings (Unix CR, Windows CR-LF, Mac LF)
• path separators ("/" or "\")
• locale set to != EN (e.g. date and number formatting, decimal points)
