Description
User would like a direct way of exporting user, groups and group memberships from their onDemand instance. This is very helpful when migrating to a Behind The Firewall instance that is using an external user directory such as LDAP or Crowd.
As it stands currently users must do their export, load up a Behind The Firewall version of Confluence from their onDemand backup. After that they must manually query the database to produce a csv of their users. The csv must then be used to import users into LDAP or Crowd. This does not account for groups or group memberships. Users with large On Demand instances will be hamstrung by having to recreate all of these associations manually.
Perhaps the best way of doing this would be to offer two kinds of exports. One that is a full export that would create all of the existing users in the local Confluence directory. A second export that would create a user directory(in LDIF or another form usable by Crowd) that could be used to create this external directory. If Confluence could detect this kind of export perhaps it could prompt you to make a connection to this external user directory as part of the setup process. Running a validation on the expected versus existing user base would also likely be a good idea.
