The documentation for OnDemand should more clearly and speficially state what version control systems are supported in which ways by which application components of OnDemand. For example, subversion is fully supported in all applications and Bamboo can build from svn source. However, GitHub users can only currently integrate with and update JIRA issues for the moment.
