Crucible project link synchronization fails silently

On the JIRA project admin page, if there is a Crucible applink one will see something like:

Crucible Review: CR-ABC (crucible) ( Select | Synchronize )

After clicking Synchronize, if the synchronization failed for some reason (eg. Fisheye return a HTTP 500 error), the URL directs to:

http://$host.jira.com/secure/project/ViewProject.jspa?message=editprojectlinks.error.synchronize&pid=10040

but the fact that there was a failure doesn't actually display anywhere in the UI.
