Issue Summary:
- The user invitation process in Atlassian Cloud applications (Jira, Confluence, etc.) has become unintuitive and inconsistent following recent changes. The ability to invite users is now buried within the 'Teams' menu, which is misleadingly labeled, and the process differs significantly between products. This has led to confusion, reduced usability, and workflow disruption, especially for non-admin users.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Navigate to the 'Teams' menu in Jira or Confluence to invite people.
- Observe that the menu is not clearly labeled as 'People' and does not indicate its function for user management.(They need to hover the mouse to see the plus button and then the "invite user" option appears)
- Attempt to invite a user by entering their email; note the lack of auto-suggest and confusing pop-up behavior.
- Compare the invitation process in Jira (via project settings, accessible only to project admins) and Confluence (no invite option from Space permissions).
- Attempt to invite users as a non-admin role (e.g., Developer, Tester, BA) and note the additional barriers.
Expected Results:
- The invitation process should be intuitive and easily accessible for all user roles.
- The menu for inviting users should be clearly labeled (e.g., 'People and Teams' or 'People').
- The process should be consistent across Jira and Confluence, allowing users to invite multiple people and assign roles/projects in a single flow.
- User lookup and auto-suggest functionality should be available.
- Microsoft integration steps and admin approvals should be clearly documented and easy to follow.
Actual Results:
- The invitation option is hidden within the 'Teams' menu, which is not clearly labeled.
- The process for inviting users is inconsistent between Jira and Confluence.
- Only project admins can invite users from project settings in Jira; Confluence does not allow product invites from Space permissions.
- User lookup and auto-suggest features have been removed or degraded.
- Microsoft integration is less accessible, with unclear documentation.
- Non-admin users face significant barriers to inviting others.
Additional Details:
- Project admins can still invite users from the project settings in Jira, but this is not available to other roles.
- Non-admin users must navigate to the 'Teams' area, but the process is cumbersome and lacks user lookup features.
- No direct workaround exists for inviting users to Confluence from Space permissions.
- Users may need to rely on internal documentation or support to understand the new process.
