During Cloud to Cloud migrations using Copy Product Data, field values for Advanced Roadmaps custom fields, such as Target end are successfully migrated to the destination site. However, the corresponding issue history records (work item history) for these fields are not migrated. This means that while the latest value of the field is present after migration, the historical changes and audit trail for these fields are lost.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create a new project and ensure the Target end field is present on one of the screens.
- Enter a date value in the Target end field.
- Change the date value in the Target end field (this should create a work item history record).
- Create a Copy Product Data migration plan and migrate the project to another cloud site.
- Observe that the field data is present on the destination, but the work item history for the field is missing.
Findings:
- Field data for Advanced Roadmaps custom fields is migrated.
- Issue history records for these fields are not migrated.
- This behavior is reproducible and has been confirmed on test cloud sites.
- There is no explicit documentation about this limitation, causing confusion for customers and support.
Impact:
- Loss of historical context and audit trail for Advanced Roadmaps custom fields after migration.
- Customers and support teams may be unaware of this limitation, leading to confusion and potential data integrity concerns.
- Manual effort may be required to reconstruct or reference historical changes post-migration.
