When adding an image to a text field like the description by default they are added as a small preview, thumbnail style, and then we can adjust the size of that image preview. For some reason, some images will appear clear and sharp, while others appear blurry/lower quality than its original version. Opening the image does show the original image, but it would be great if the image previews were consistently sharp.
In Confluence it is possible to indicate the pixel resolution of the image and when having the image saved to file we can see its original resolution and in the Confluence page, setting the image added to its original resolution sometimes makes the image look as sharp as in its original version (not always), but in Jira it is not possible to do this. This is specially noticeable in images that contain text, and specially when taking screenshots/snippets of text from Jira /Confluence.
Having previews be as sharp as its original images would allow consistency, as well as enable users to not having to open every image to be able to see it in high quality, improving efficiency. This would be specially helpful for scenarios where there are multiple images added.
In this example we can see a table added to the description, followed by a screenshot of the table itself, and the image preview, resized to be almost the same size of the original image is of noticeable lower quality. For this example the effect is not as pronounced, but sometimes the text in the image is much more: degraded:
