Need to upgrade the PDFjs library for our Media Viewer component.

Currently, PDFjs is one of the oldest packages that we haven’t upgraded for a long time due to dev environment limitations, and finally got upgraded to a minor version in the recent update with a lot of challenges.

Due to the current version of the PDFjs library the media viewer component in Jira, specifically to show Attachment preview, does not render some of the characters from other languages like Chinese etc correctly. 

Workaround: 

We have introduced a feature that utilizes cMaps (Character Map) to render foreign characters. To fully benefit from this feature, the document must be in .pdf format.

Convert the attachment from docx or txt format to pdf format and then re-upload them to the issue, this should render most of the unicodes correctly for non-English Languages.
