Problem Statement

Currently if customer want to import a Jira Cloud backup into their DC instance, the only way is to Generate the XML backup using the legacy method (Backup Manager) and then import it in DC. 

However, this feature of creating Backup for DC/Server is going to be decommissioned in Jun 30, 2025. Which means customer will not be having any option to import Jira Cloud Data to their On-Prem other than manually exporting Jira Work Items in CSV file and then import it in DC.

This method becomes challenging if customer has large data volume in Cloud. 

Suggestion

The suggestion here is,

• Build a functionality in BRIE with an option to generate the backup for DC
• Once backup is created, provide an option to export it to customer's AWS S3 storage
• From AWS S3 customer can download the backup in their local and use it to import in Jira DC.
