Summary

In a scenario where a customer is trying to create an Atlassian Cloud site with a desired name but for some technical reasons if the creation fails, then the site name will show as “Taken” or “Already in use” even though the URL is not associated with any active site.

The URL gets placed in a short-term reservation list on our end and, hence, can't be associated with any site. This short-term reservation is for a period of 7 days, after which the URL will be released for use.

Suggestion:

It would be great to reduce the wait time or allow customers to release the URL manually after the failure in creation.
Also, it would be helpful to display a relevant message in the UI stating the reason for URL unavailability and the expected release time.
