      Problem Definition

Several Atlassian Cloud products are capable of sending email notifications to users of changes (Jira issue notifications, JSM request notifications, Confluence watcher notifications, etc). However there currently is no mechanism that the Atlassian Cloud platform is utilizing that can capture if the end user actually opened that sent email/notification.

      Suggested Solution

If emails sent from a Cloud site were to utilize email receipts, it could be possible that when a client or end user opens a message in their inbox that it could send this receipt back to the source email address.

      Why this is important

This is one possible way in which site-admins can gain further insights into whether or not end users have read the messages sent to them. It can better help manage expectations, and avoid communication break-downs that can occur.
