The current Git version check error message is misleading and causes customer confusion. The message reads:

The Git version must be between 2.42 and up to but not including 2.51. In addition, the following Git versions are not supported due to critical regressions which break core functionality: 2.48, 2.51.1.

The phrase "up to but not including 2.51" is easy to misinterpret and can be reasonably read as meaning any version above 2.51 is acceptable.

      Rewrite the error message to:

      • Explicitly state the minimum and maximum supported versions
      • Separately and clearly call out any spot-excluded versions due to known regressions
