Currently, mirrors can only proxy the hosting operations, all REST API calls have to go to the upstream cluster.
The ability to proxy REST API requests via the Smart Mirror to the upstream extends the use cases of Smart Mirrors in DMZ environments where the exception needs to be made only for Smart Mirror (Farm) and not for all the tools that need to fetch the metadata.
