As of Bitbucket Server 5.9.0, we no longer provide customized messages during the password reset dialog when a user is managed by an external read-only directory, like Jira. BSERV-10581 Now we provide only a generic message that "If you are a registered user you will receive a password reset e-mail." For users in read-only directories, this results in no action at all. This is confusing to the user because they may be waiting for an e-mail that never comes instead of talking to the administrator that can actually help them and results in lost productivity.

Since we can no longer provide guidance in the messaging to direct the user to the right place to get help based on the directory type, it would be beneficial to be able to at least have the option to remove the password reset function altogether for external users so as not to provide confusing messages.
