Actual Results

When screen reader users navigates through combobox options of “Type” element it is announcing with index number only inappropriately. As a result if option names with index are not announced then screen reader users will not be able to interact with it effectively.

For example : There is third option name such as “Hotfix” for “Type” element.

When user navigates onto this option with up/down keys, this combobox option is announcing as “option object object focused, 3 of 5. 5 results available.” etc inappropriately. As result if combobox items option name are not reading out then screen reader users might not able to complete this field successfully.

    Expected Results

The combobox elements option name with appropriate index should be announced by screen reader for mentioned elements when user navigates through it using up/down keys via screen reader software.

Example : For “Type” combobox element when user focuses on “Hotfix” third option out of 5 items. It should announce as “option Hotfix selected, 3 of 5. 5 results available” etc.

The part of static text i.e “option focused, 3 of 5. 5 results available.” coming from live region in element should be updated with option names programmatically according to user interaction with this combobox options.

    Code snippet

option Hotfix focused, 3 of 5. 5 results available. Use Up and Down to choose options, press Enter to select the currently focused option, press Escape to exit the menu.
