Copying between S3 buckets in different regions

My deployment pipeline has a step which requires me to copy an object from an AWS S3 bucket in ap-southeast-2 to another S3 bucket in us-east-1.

This step fails with the following error:

• • An error occurred (AccessDenied) when calling the UploadPartCopy operation: VPC endpoints do not support cross-region requests**

Is there some way that I can workaround this limitation ?
