I would like to have the issue described in BCLOUD-12797 reconsidered. While the solution provided is great, it does not help when using README files outside of Bitbucket.

One such use case is using the README contents as a long description for python packages on https://pypi.python.org/pypi.

e.g. https://pypi.python.org/pypi/chalice/0.4.0 (with badge) vs https://pypi.python.org/pypi/sippycup/0.1.0 (without badge)

Having the build status on a project's summary page that is created directly from the README would be a nice addition.
