This would make Bamboo more consistent with other Atlassian products, JIRA and Confluence.

I already use the pre-packaged tomcat versions of JIRA and Confluence and it would make support and maintenance simpler for me if all of the Atlassian products were packaged the same way. I create scripts for installing and upgrading these applications and I'd be able to reuse code if Bamboo were packaged the same way.
