Description
Issue Summary
When downloading Bamboo, we have 3 options for Windows: the 32 and 64-bit exe installers, and the ZIP file. The Zip file bundles a 32-bit version of the binaries, but there's no mention of that nowhere in the upgrade/installation pages, nor on the download page itself. We also don't have any 64-bit binaries ZIP for download.
Installing Bamboo on a 64-bit system using the ZIP file can cause some issues. For example, it's not possible to run it as a service.
Steps to Reproduce
- Download and install Bamboo on a 64-bit Windows system (and 64-bit JDK) using the ZIP file.
- Try to run it as a service. It will fail with error code 1 & incorrect function messages.
- When running Bamboo through the command line, although it starts, some errors are thrown related to the architectural differences.
Expected Results
We should either inform the ZIP file is for 32-bit systems only, or provide both the 32 and 64-bit ZIP files.
Actual Results
When starting Bamboo as a service:
Windows could not start the Atlassian Bamboo Bamboo on Local Computer, for more information, review the system event log. if this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor and refer to service-specific error code 1.
Event Viewer logs:
The Atlassian Bamboo Bamboo service terminated with the following service-specific error: Incorrect function.
When starting Bamboo through the command line (start-bamboo.bat), you might see the following error in the console, although Bamboo successfully starts up:
Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform] java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: <bamboo-install>\bin\tcnative-1.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform
Workaround
Reinstall Bamboo using the 64-bit installer.
