TestNG (a successor to JUnit) provides a mechanism that lets you skip execution of tests whenever prior tests upon which they depend fail. Such tests are reported as being "skipped", as opposed to either "passed" or "failed".

We need to implement support for this third category of test results.

Surefire 2.4 provides support for reporting "skipped" tests.
