Problem Definition

When having a build plan containing only manual stages, Bamboo will provide a green build even if no manual stages have been run. Bamboo provides a green build as if it was marked as failed, no manual stages could be run at a later point.

This can be problematic, as you can create a release based on a build plan that had no stages run and effectively nothing was really built.

Suggested Solution

Before creating the release, it'd be great to have some information message if no stages have been run on the build linked to the deployment that you want to release.

Workaround

A possible workaround would be to keep the deployment steps at a manual stage of the same plan. This way it will be not possible to run those deployment steps until previous stages are executed
